A small city in Wisconsin is terrorized by a mysterious clown who roams the streets late at night with nothing more than a handful of black balloons. The local news stations scramble to break the story on who he is and what he wants while a group of high schoolers see the clown's arrival as an excuse to create a little trouble themselves. The police try to maintain order in a city that has gone clown crazy and a conservative podcast host vows to put a stop to the clown known as Gags while broadcasting his "clown hunt" on social media for the world to see.

WHO IS Gags?

In August of 2016, sightings of a sinister clown named Gags roaming the dark streets of Green Bay, WI started popping up all over social media, becoming one of the biggest viral sensations of the year and coincidentally resurrecting the world-wide phenomenon known as “clown roaming” that surged for months.

Well, it turns out those pictures of Gags the Clown were a carefully-coordinated marketing stunt to spread the word on a short film, aptly titled Gags. The short was released in October 2016 and a feature film was in development shortly after, a co-production between The Line Film Co. and Head Trauma Productions

And in May 2017, principal photography on the Gags feature film was underway. The goal with the feature was to not only give people more of this evil clown they fell in love with during the short film's marketing stunt but to also explore the wide range of emotions Gags and his fellow roaming clowns elicited from the world.

I mean, let’s face it - not everyone enjoyed that clown craze of 2016.

There was curiosity, humor, fear, rage - Gags explores it all, providing a rich context on a social phenomenon that took the country by storm and shook people to the core.

Gags is a scary, creatively shot and often-times humorous looks at how the arrival of one mysterious clown can turn a city upside down and inside out. Regardless of your thoughts on the clown craze of 2016, it’s safe to say that it made an impact on our world and Gags was the driving force behind it.

And we feel we made a feature film that lives up to that hype. See for yourself on September 3rd, 2019.

Gags stars Lauren Ashley Carter, Tracy Perez, Aaron Christensen, Wyatt Kuether and Evan Gamble
